Gifts of the Spirit

Red Discs Cranking?

Images of red discs,
Worn by a slow cranking shaft –
Yet to understand

a genuine account of an abstract daydream, shared in response to today’s prompt at The Daily Post – my failure to make sense of my own daydream did make me a little ‘cranky’.

Prophetic Revelation

Be inspired dear friends!
Write therefore, what you have seen;
Record the present;
Prophetic Revelation –
Of what will take place later

Dare to Dream

Dare to dream
I dream of difference
Dare to be the difference
Dream of daring
Dream of making a difference

Dare to be different
Dream of diversity
Daring to differentiate
Declare diversity’s beauty
Daring to make a difference

I dream diverse dreams
Where is Joseph?
Where is Daniel?
Called to dream
Called to be different
Called
To make a difference
Give me a dream today

The Spirit’s Whispers

O how sweet the sound,
how exquisite the fragrance –
the Spirit’s whispers
breathing through my consciousness
in divine revelation

Today’s prompt at The Daily Post is: “exquisite

Bygones, Begone

“The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.”
― L.P. Hartley, The Go-Between

The past counts many nations
Amongst life’s jigsaw cartography
Some remaining fondly cherished
Ohers which rail hard against me still

Enemies haunting my countenance
False allies clouding my mind
Tarnishing my memory’s mirror
Whetting Accusation’s bladed tongue

‘Til a storm of harsh self-loathing
Consumes its pathway, and destroys
So man can no longer feign appeasement
Becoming once again, with himself at war

Lord let me forget the former things
Leaving them adrift in progress’ wake
Let me well not within the past,
May the bygones, be truly gone

Exorcising the unfulfilled,
Let me live now for this present age
Banishing all ungodliness
Seeking first and ever, Your righteous path

Let me hope in You for the future things
As they spring forth; let me perceive;
Give my heart’s eye Your Spirit’s foresight
And may my hands and mouth serve Your plans

Arise, Divine Muse

Arise divine muse
Firing imagination
Bring dreams and visions
Inspire all God’s children
Bring glimpses of Heaven here

Muse of Fire

‘O for a Muse of fire, that would ascend
The brightest heaven of invention’

– William Shakespeare, Henry V Act I Scene I

‘When the day of Pentecost came,
they were all together in one place.
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven
and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire
that separated and came to rest on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.’

– Acts 2:1-4

Smoothed by Living Water

stones in the stream

As the river smoothed
Five small stones which David chose
To slay Goliath;
So the Spirit disciples
We may slay our own giants
