prayer

Thursday is Verse Day @FaithUnlocked – Psalm 38:13-22

I am like the deaf, who cannot hear,
    like the mute, who cannot speak;
I have become like one who does not hear,
    whose mouth can offer no reply.
Lord, I wait for you;
    you will answer, Lord my God.
For I said, “Do not let them gloat
    or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.”
For I am about to fall,
    and my pain is ever with me.
I confess my iniquity;
    I am troubled by my sin.
Many have become my enemies without cause;
    those who hate me without reason are numerous.
Those who repay my good with evil
    lodge accusations against me,
    though I seek only to do what is good.
Lord, do not forsake me;
    do not be far from me, my God.
Come quickly to help me,
    my Lord and my Saviour.

Indistinguishable

To those without faith
Any prayer sounds like a wish;
Any act of God
Is indistinguishable
From illusion or magic

a second effort written in response to the prompt in Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Challenge #30 – “Wish” and “Magic”, and drawing loose inspiration from the third of Arthur C. Clarke’s ‘laws’ – 2Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

No Magic Answers

A Question of Courage

Realisation
The jolt comes not from the blue
The time is at hand
Not a matter of guidance
But a question of courage

written in response to today’s prompt at The Daily Post

‘As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit – just as it has taught you, remain in him.’
– 1 John 2:27
