Micro-poetry

Give me the Love that leads the way
The Faith that nothing can dismay
The Hope no disappointments tire
The Passion that’ll burn like fire
Let me not sink to be a clod
Make me Thy fuel, Flame of God
― Amy Carmichael

The dearest idol I have known,
Whate’er that idol be,
Help me to tear it from thy throne,
And worship only thee.

So shall my walk be close with God,
Calm and serene my frame;
So purer light shall mark the road
That leads me to the Lamb.
– William Cowper

Take time to be holy, Be calm in thy soul–
Each thought and each motive Beneath His control.
Thus led by His Spirit To fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.
– William D. Longstaff (1822-1894)

Name Him, brothers, name Him, with love strong as death
But with awe and wonder, and with bated breath!
He is God the Saviour, He is Christ the Lord,
Ever to be worshipped, trusted and adored.
– Carolyn Noel

Teach me to feel another’s woe,
to hide the fault I see;
That mercy I to others show,
that mercy show to me.
– Alexander Pope

If I am right, Thy grace impart
Still in the right to stay;
If I am wrong, O, teach my heart
To find that better way!
― Alexander Pope, Moral Essays

I ask for all the answers,
You bring me more questions.
I seek to fix the world’s injustices,
You remind me of my neighbour’s needs.
I ask how to convince those who are wrong,
You ask me to love despite being wronged.
I ask to know the truth,
You say I am Truth, know me.
– Dan Reilly

You are a child of mine,
Born of my own design,
And you bear the hard of life.
No matter where you go,
Oh, you will always know,
That you’ve been made free in Christ,
And you are a child of mine!
― Mark Schultz

When you ask God for a gift,
Be thankful if he sends,
Not diamonds, pearls or riches,
But the love of real true friends.
― Helen Steiner Rice

Happy, if with my latest breath
I might but gasp his name;
Preach him to all, and cry in death:
Behold, behold the Lamb!
– Charles Wesley

If you from sin are longing to be free,
Look to the Lamb of God
He, to redeem you, died on Calvary,
Look to the Lamb of God.
― Maria Woodworth-Etter, Signs and Wonders
