Parable of the Net

Written following this week’s Daily Post writing challenge for Tanka poetry:

A net in the lake,
Shall capture all kinds of fish;
Once full, brought ashore –
Angel fishermen will sort,
Separate the good from bad

– inspired by Matthew 13:47-49

Weeds among the Wheat

Written following this week’s Daily Post writing challenge for Tanka poetry:

Weeds among the wheat
Sown there by the Enemy
Until harvest time –
The weeds gathered for burning
The wheat to the owner’s barn

Chasing After the Wind

Written following this week’s Daily Post writing challenge for Tanka poetry:

The fool folds his hands,
In envy of his neighbour,
Choosing idleness –
His envy is meaningless,
Like chasing after the wind

– inspired by Ecclesiastes 4:4-6

Sky River

Sky River

Rivers in the sky
Flowing all around this world
On gossamer wings
Carrying living water
To mankind’s driest places

‘the clouds pour down their moisture
and abundant showers fall on mankind.’
– Job 36:28

‘Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
extol him who rides on the clouds;
rejoice before him – his name is the Lord.’
– Psalm 68:4

‘The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
he stretches out the heavens like a tent
and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
He makes the clouds his chariot
and rides on the wings of the wind.’
– Psalm 104:2-3

‘You heavens above, rain down my righteousness;
let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide,
let salvation spring up,
let righteousness flourish with it;
I, the Lord, have created it.’
– Isaiah 45:8
