The Phantasmagic Gate #NaPoWriMo2017 #GloPoWriMo2017

Oe’r Tremblepyke, through metachasmic places,
Weaves a heroine bearing ten thousand faces;
Winding stealthily through grim Cymbalic Rocks,
She imitates the action of the Peripaticulous Fox;
Employing spionic cunning, and parathaumic art,
With nebuliminous deft, she steals t’ward steepling ramparts;
Broaching rebulliious walls, where bravest Bogles would fear to tread,
Her brow now beading with primal fear, and ‘byss dread;
As sabrescythmic denizens there in full force await,
Our heroine’s destination revealed – The Phantasmagic Gate.

Day 18 of Na/GloPoWriMo2017 and the prompt is to write a poem that incorporates neologisms. A neologism is a made-up word, which could be portmanteaus (basically, a word made from combining two existing words, like “motel” coming from “motor” and “hotel”) or they could be words invented entirely for their sound.

I chose to apply the prompt to a fantasy setting. It probably needs more verses (or a conversion to flash fiction) to conclude the adventure.

Verbiage #NaPoWriMo2016 #GloPoWriMo2016

Insufficient stuff, and not enough nonsense
Fuliginous mirrors reflecting mysted incense
Short-lived quickening, first here and fast gone
In eternity’s longevity, there can be only one
Iconic deception, reality transformed
Mechanical autometry, sparked withall re-formed
One true path past falsehood, paves the way to life
Eradicating mendacity, surpassing serpentine strife
Alliterative allegory paints a plainer picture
Nearly-truths and almost-lies – a volatile mixture
One last veracity, in deference to cadence:
If to err is ever human, the rest may be silence

Today’s Na/GloPoWriMo2016 challenge is to write using a combination of ‘high-flown’ non-conversational vocabulary with everyday simpler words, so I thought why not combine a bit of overstated nonsense with simple truth.

(and throwing in a Silver Threading ‘word of the week’ and another of my own creation – why not?)
