Revelation Convicts

False comfort in the crowd
Who disown their Father
Revelation convicts
The heart as an outlier
Welcomed then into the fold
To become a branch
of the one True Vine
Adopted to inheritance
In the royal throne room

Time and Chance #NaPoWriMo2017 #GloPoWriMo2017

The race is not always to the quick –
Even the fleetest foot may falter;
Nor the battle ever to the strong,
If weaker forces choose higher ground;
Food is not guaranteed to the wisest –
Famine is no respecter of rank;
Noor wealth earned by the most brilliant,
Even dullards shall inherit fathers’ lands;
Favour may not be granted to the learned,
Giants on whose shoulders others stand;
I have seen nothing new under the Sun –
Truly, time and chance affect them all.

written in response to the NaPoWriMo.net prompt for Day 7 of Na/GloPoWriMo2017: to write a poem about luck and fortuitousness. This one draws on verse 11 from Ecclesiastes 9 in the bible’s Old Testament.
