Dust Returns to Dust

ronovan-writes-haiku-challenge

In the heat of day
And by the sweat of your brow –
You must earn your crust

Each day remaining
Work the earth from which you came –
Dust returns to dust

written in response to this week’s RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge, #137  – “Sweat” and “Heat”, and inspired by Genesis 3:19

In the Presence of One as yet Unborn

At Mary’s greeting,
Within Elizabeth’s womb
John leapt in response:
Mother and baby enriched
In the presence of Jesus;

Filled with the Spirit,
Moved by holy inspiration,
Elizabeth cried:
‘Mary, you are truly blessed,
and blessed is the child you bear!’

written in response to today’s prompt at The Daily Post, and inspired by Luke’s account if the meeting of expectant mothers – Elizabeth, who was the mother of John the Baptist, and Mary the mother of Jesus (Luke 1:40-42)
