The Imperishable Wreath

Do not grow weary, nor faint-hearted;
know yet, that under the testing sun
the marathon goes not to the swift,
for time and chance are hazards to all.
So lay aside every burden
and bare forth unworldly endurance –
run life’s long race as set before you.
Finish the race,
Keep steady pace;
and in that race which we all must run,
stake your claim to the finishers’ prize:
an imperishable wreath, woven in faith.

Spirit Fire Ignite

Spirit fire, ignite!
As your flames kiss my heart’s cheeks –
Grow my love anew
