Scent of Life

God’s faithful people
Christ’s triumphal procession
Pleasing scent of life

written in response to today’s prompt at The Daily Post, and inspired by 2 Corinthians 2:12-17

The Master’s Voice

His voice called all into being
Thundering over the waters;
Powerful; and majestic,
It breaks cedars, twists oak;
It strikes with flashes of lightning.
His voice shakes the desert;
And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

based upon Psalm 29

I Seek Your Face

Hear my call, O Lord
be merciful to and answer
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, I will seek.

Do not turn from me
Show me the light of your face
Shining upon me

inspired by Psalm 27

A Rainbow Remains

Great flood recedes
Righteous men saved, peace descends –
A rainbow remains

written in response to this week’s prompt at Haiku Horizons, and inspired by the story of Noah in Genesis 9:12-15

A companion haiku to Indiscriminate Deluge

Indiscriminate Deluge

Devastation spreads
Indiscriminate deluge
Hope resides in faith

written in response to today’s daily prompt at The Daily Post – “devastation” – and inspired by part of the story of Noah from Genesis 7:17-23

A companion haiku to A Rainbow Remains

Joy’s River

Shame’s tears ebb and flow
Mercies stem sorrows’ dull tides –
Joy’s river runs through
