Battle Joined #NaPoWriMo2016

The sun stilled it’s arc
The moon held
Whilst battle commenced

Old Testament times
Victory
Blood shed by many

New Testament times
Victory
Blood shed by the One

Near eternity
Balanced books
All debts paid by Him

‘So the sun stood still,
and the moon stopped,
till the nation avenged itself on its enemies’
– Joshua 10:13

The first day of the NaPoWriMo challenge – to write in the style of a lune. This is a three-line poem with a 5-3-5 syllable count (or stanzas following that pattern)

London bus

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
round and round,
slowing down.
the wheels on the bus grind to a halt,
in London traffic

The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish;
slosh, slosh, slosh,
swish, swish, swish,
the people on the bus go wish, wish, wish,
we weren’t in London

The horn on the bus go beep, beep, beep;
Beep, beep, beep,
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
because no-one’s getting anywhere,
in London traffic

The people on the bus go splutter, splutter, splutter
cough, cough cough,
feeling rough.
wish we were by the sea instead of stuck,
on this London bus
