A Child’s Faith

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
– Matthew 19:14

Upon our return from New Wine, our 9-year-old daughter wrote the following words:

‘2nd August

When I was laying in bed I felt different. Braver than usual.

I felt like I understood God more than before. I felt like I really knew God is always with me.

I felt changed.

I felt like New Wine 2014 had changed me.

I felt like God has poured the Holy Spirit right through me, from my head to my toes.

And I feel like God could do the same to others, not just me.

For God is always with us.’

Reblog: My seriously subversive week

I love New Wine and had a wonderful week in Somerset myself.

Jesus’ love for us should naturally lead us to love others, and for His church to love the world. Loving individuals make up a loving, united church. How did Jesus reach the broken, the embittered, the hardened? He loved them.

Subversive Suburbanite

Mud-free camping this time Mud-free camping this time

Every July we head off to New Wine in Somerset – a several-thousand-strong national gathering of Christians – for a week of camping, teaching, worship and not enough sleep. We always enjoy it, but this year was especially good due to a wonderfully unexpected element of subversiveness.
