Lord Help Me

Lord help me try to be worthy
Of being Your temple within;
By Your grace I know that You love me,
Have saved me from death caused by sin;
Let my faith in You grow ever daily,
Keep it simple, relying on You;
In all that I do may I hail thee,
And keep in my heart only what’s true;
Lord make me a channel for Your peace;
Let me be a beacon of Light;
Holy Spirit rise in me, and release
Gifts, armour, and strength for the fight.

A Quote: John Wesley

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”

― John Wesley

Thursday is Verse Day @FaithUnlocked – 1 Cor 2:6-10

We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature,
but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers who are coming to nothing.
No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom,
a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
None of the rulers of this age understood it,
for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
However, as it is written:
“No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him”
but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:6-10

The Butterfly Effect

I was a gorging caterpillar
Consuming everything I could;
It was my nature, I knew no better,
To me, it just seemed so good.

Then shame struck me and in searing pain
I cocooned myself away from sight;
And in that shell You dealt with me
‘Til I was ready to return to the light.

Now I’m reborn a beloved butterfly
Crafted with detail and engaging flair,
Painted with love by Your master hand,
Molded with Masterly care.

As I flap my wings
Who knows what effect
You will impart through me?
Creating simple ripples,
Affecting complex lives,
Of people I may never see.

All glory to You,
Whose perfect plan
Finds a way to use unworthy me!
What an amazing God,
Loving Father and guide,
Who heard my voiceless, plaintive plea.

“Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back for good – no longer as a slave, but better than a slave as a dear brother”
Philemon 15-16

Prayer for the Persecuted

Our brothers die proclaiming Your name,
Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Let those safe here each day dare do the same,
All glory belongs to the Lord!
Give our brothers in Christ Your comfort O Lord,
By Your grace, let them rest in Your love;
Write in their hearts the truth of Your word,
‘Til You call them home to You up above.

You Never Let Go

Matt Redman’s timeless genius, and so close to my heart today:

“I can see a light that is coming,
For the heart that holds on,
And there will be any end to these troubles,
But until that day comes,
Still I will praise you!
Still I will praise you!”

Love and Life

All life is God-created, yet
Life without love, is no life at all;
Without love flowing from your heart,
You’ve come nowhere since the fall
Of man, exiled from the garden,
Where God had provided the perfect home:
Without sadness, without blemish,
Where man should never need feel alone.

Giving love a home in a generous heart
Is God’s commission to us all,
To be the Father’s heart, limbs, and lips,
To spread his message, fulfil his call,
To make known His glorious good news
That we need no longer roam
Lost and weary like an errant sheep,
For we have a shepherd, who calls us home.
